Toshiba NB505-N508GN 10.1-Inch Netbook (Green)
It's small, and perfect for surfing during ballgames, writing in cafes, reading in bed; anything where smaller and lighter is better. The speakers aren't great but I don't use them much. I love it.
There were many disparaging reviews about this Toshiba netbook but I'm very satisfied with it. It's light, the monitor is clear and bright, the keyboard is bigger than most netbooks and the speakers are pretty decent. It's nice that the covers come in different jewel tones and that the keyboard has a surface that doesn't show fingerprints. Plus it has 3 USB ports. Most netbooks have two.
For its price, I can't complain. But it would be nice if it came with more RAM because sometimes, it slows down. Not enough to become unproductive but impatient people like me need to upgrade the memory. I also wish that Windows 7 Starter isn't installed on most netbooks. It's so basic, really bare bones. I am also upgrading that. Ditto with the Office Starter. It only includes Word and Excel and not the full versions. Of course, this is all for pushing the consumer to buy more. But I would rather pay more and have everything in place already.
Still, for my purposes, which is to tote it on trips, it's a fantastic little computer and with it's decent battery life, it's a nice alternative to the boring movies that are playing on the plane. I was able to watch 3 downloaded movies without the battery running out. Saved me from having to watch Vanessa Hudgens in Beastly.
Just an aside, I have a bone to pick with Amazon constantly changing prices. I wanted to buy the brown netbook but the orange was a lot cheaper. A few days later, the prices switched and they keep switching. Instead of returning my computer, I just bought a skin, which probably amounted to the same price had I bought the brown netbook but at least I got to choose a really cool design.
